For Anne Frank’s 13th birthday she received a diary. She started writing in it on June 14 1942. About two weeks later Anne and her family Otto, Edith, and Margot left to hide in a “secret annex” above her father’s work space in Amsterdam later on another family joined the Van Daans they have one cat and a teenage son Peter. Mrs. Van Daan’s dentist Mr. Dussel joined them four months later. The Van Daans, the Franks and Mr. Dussel were hidden for two years and one month.
Anne and her father have a close relationship not so much Anne and her mother she felt they had nothing in common. Margot was very bright and intelligent Anne looked up to her older sister. She disliked Mrs. Van Daan and Peter but as time passed she became close to him. Anne referred to her diary as “Kitty” and wrote in it like letters.
August 4, 1944 Anne her family, the Van Daan’s, and Mr.Dussel were all found Otto Frank was the only one who survived the war. In March Anne died in Bergen-Belsen from Typhus.
